As fashion week travels around the globe, we are taking a look at the latest trends in cuts, colour and style, straight from the fashion week runways.

On the runways, long hair ruled. Long locks were flowing in carefree boho waves, voluminous in bombshell blowouts, and slicked back with gel and pomade for a sleek, out-of-the-water look. Ponytails, braids and buns are still going strong, with designers adding interest with metal hair clips, flower adornments and funky headbands. Some designers used judiciously placed crimping to add volume and texture to otherwise minimalist ponytails.

Although it was all about length on the runway, the pixie cut is back with a vengeance, as celebs from Scarlett Johansson and Lily Collins to Rita Ora and Nicole Richie embraced the chop. The new pixie is edgier than its predecessors, with shaved sides, bold colours and cool, unstudied messiness.

Speaking of colour, the spring’s most buzz-worthy trend has been pixilated hair, but there are plenty of colour options that are nowhere near as challenging, but still able to elevate a look. Our favorite is the darker side of balayage, called ecaille: a warm, tortoiseshell look, achieved by mixing a rich, darker base and golden highlights.

The new season offers plenty of opportunity for experimentation and change. Whether that means a radical cut or colour or update a classic ponytail with a bold accessory, there is something to try for anyone willing to make the change.
